Dr. Valencia's research interests focus on multicultural issues in the treatment and prevention of mental health problems and other negative outcomes as well as promotion of academic achievement. She has published and presented on topics such as decreasing health disparities, Latino/a mental health, preventing substance abuse, academic achievement, as well as acculturation issues related to substance use and mental health problems.
